Groups

This function is only available if it has been enabled for you. Ask aewacs support.

With this function you can specify which EC2 instances a user can see in aewacs.

  1. In the AWS console set a tag named “aewacs-Group” on each EC2 instance. The value should be the group name.

  2. Every 10 minutes aewacs will pick up the group names from the tags. (You may speed this up by logging into aewacs and clicking AWS AccountsActionsrefresh)

  3. In aewacs click User Management and then the user you want to assign groups to. You are now in the user detail page.

  4. At the bottom of the page you should see section Groups with the names you have entered in the tags at an earlier step. (If you do not see Groups, then it is not enabled and you should contact aewacs support. If you do not see the group names that you entered, then aewacs has not picked them up yet and you should check the spelling of the tag name, any error messages in the AWS Accounts page, and the Last Refreshed timestamp in the AWS Accounts page.)

  5. Select the groups this user should see and click Save.

  6. Note that the new Groups (and Enabled Domain Roles) will only be effective after the user has logged out and in again!

EC2 instances that do not have an aewacs-Group tag will be visible to all users that have Enabled Domain Roles server and/or server_read!
